Mark Gonzalez, MD, is Professor and Head of the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He specializes in hand surgery, microsurgery, and joint reconstruction.

Biography

Dr. Gonzalez graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and earned his M.D. from the University of Chicago. He completed his surgical internship and orthopaedic residency at the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago, followed by fellowships in hand surgery at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan and University of Louisville, and a fellowship in joint replacement at Ohio State University. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, with an added qualification in hand surgery.

Dr. Gonzalez is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the Musculoskeletal Infection Society and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He has published more than 100 abstracts, book chapters, and articles
